Detailed Specs
Core Features across the full range:
- Over-engineered design: Very heavily constructed using only screws
and heavy duty galvanised brackets. No glue or nails are used in the construction of our products - they would only result in inferior strength / longevity. - All external metal work is either 304 or 316 (marine grade) stainless steel. No aluminium is used except for the serial number/ manufacture plate (anodized aluminium).
- 45,000 BTU double-skinned 304 stainless steel gas burner, burning approx 1kg of Propane gas per hour at full power usage.
- 27mm clip-on regulator for use with all (UK) green gas cylinders labelled Patio Gas or Leisure Gas (gas cylinder(s) not supplied).
- Electronic ignition (1x AAA battery supplied).
- Each internal leg is fitted with a non-marking Teflon slider to protect expensive patio or decking surfaces from marking / scratching.
- 2 gas cylinders can be stored and used inside each firetable completely out of sight. The Bardsey (bar-height) and Sentosa (dining table) models can accommodate up to 2x13kg gas cylinders. The coffee table sized Hilbre model can accommodate up to 2x5kg cylinders. Totally out of sight. No ugly gas cylinders to clog up your patio or plastic orange gas hoses to trip over.
- "Plug and Play" Simplicity: Carry to desired location using the detachable carry handles, connect the clip-on regulator to any green gas cylinder (Leisure Gas / Patio Gas). Turn on, sit back and enjoy.
- Thru-Door Accessibility: All models (except for dining-table models) have a maximum footprint of 116cm wide by 64-68cm deep - they have been deliberately designed to fit through domestic doorways so you can get them into your back garden / deck / balcony if you don't have side-of-property access. But please check and measure your access route before you decide to buy. This is not flatpack furniture.
- 4x detachable carry handles that attach to super-heavy-duty marine grade stainless steel eye bolts on the firetable.
- 4x heavy duty adjustable stabilising feet for use as required on uneven ground.
- 1x heavy duty waterproof canvas cover with adjustable tie-down strap.
- 1x optional-use tempered glass windguard. Requires 7-10 mins assembly using a standard Philips screwdriver.
- Lava Rocks? We don't supply them because a lot of people prefer the minimalist naked flame / stainless steel look and some prefer glass firestones or other decorative stones such as fire pebbles. There are many options, all very much a matter of personal taste. We suggest you come to a decision after you've used your firetable a couple of times.
Specific to Rustic Softwood (Coniferous Species) Firetables
- Our current rustic models are constructed primarily from reclaimed "dunnage boards" that are made of various softwoods such as pine, cedar and spruce.
- Dunnage boards are rough-cut heat treated wooden planks that have had a former life on bulk cargo vessels to prevent bulk cargoes such as steel bails sitting directly on top of the steel hull. We are lucky enough to be able to buy them when they occasionally get offloaded with cargoes at our local docks in Liverpool and Birkenhead. We save them from the scrapyard and give them a new lease of life.
- We plane and finish all boards so that most signs of wear and tear disappear but you should cherish any remaining visible wear marks on your table if you are lucky enough to have any.
- On a note of caution if you prefer an Ikea level of perfect uniformity then please consider not buying from our product range - our products, made of real wood and hadcrafted, are unique and may contain a few wonky lines, stress marks, tiny gaps and other characterful flaws that results from using natural handworked and reclaimed timber.
- All wood is scorched in the traditional and stunning Japanese "Yakisugi" style to bring out the beautiful and distinctive grain and knot patterns of the wood, then dipped in Cedol™ preservative before receiving a topcoat of ultra-durable exterior satin varnish to seal, all designed to give you many years of trouble free enjoyment.
- Our extra thick firetable tops on the Hilbre XT models are made from top quality 40mm thick C24 rated timber. This is similar to a scaffold board thickness. It is not reclaimed timber.
Specific to Hardwood Firetables
- Our hardwood models are made from Pollmeier™ German Beech. Pollmeier is the largest global supplier of sustainable Beech. This company only harvests trees of at least 125 years of age from Germany's expansive forests that stretch out hundreds of miles into Eastern Europe.
- Beech is an extremely slow growing, hard wearing and high quality temperate hardwood. It carries a small price premium over our softwood models, but if you demand the best then this is it.
- Natural Beech has a fairly bland light brown colour that is not currently "on-trend", but it is renowned for taking a woodstain beautifully so all our beech firetables are stained in either Ebony (black) or a stunning deep Walnut. Graphite Grey is also available on request.
- We use a top-quality and commerically available wood stain (Ronseal 10-Year Woodstain) instead of an obscure and cheap / lower quality trade product. This allows you to easily bring your firetable back to as-new condition every couple of years if you wish, using the exact matching wood stain product as the original, available online and from all decent DIY retailiers.
- We personally prefer our hardwood firetables to gracefully age and weather over the years, slowly developing their own character and patina, but the choice is yours.
- As a hardwood that's already over 125 years old our beech firetables will almost certainly outlast their owners.
